I’m female, I had a chat with my dad about marriage because I have been thinking about what the point of marriage is, especially its benefit to women, other than status, I don’t see the point. My dad was a bad excuse for a husband, my mum treated several std(s). He said it’s normal for men to stray and it’s not a big deal. I asked if my mum strayed would he still stay with her, he said no and I asked how is it a big deal for him and not a big deal to me because I’m a woman and he couldn’t respond.

My mum asked me what I said to my dad because he told her I spoke with him but he didn’t go into details with her. She said he’s been really nice to her and he started making effort to connect with her emotionally. He also called me problematic and our communication has reduced. I forgot to add in the previous post that I told him I didn’t want to get married because it looked scary and it seems like marriage doesn’t benefit me in any way. I told him he wasn’t a good example of a husband.
