I started dating my first girlfriend in December 2021, and since then, I’ve always happily taken care of her needs, paying for her monthly hairdo, covering other expenses, and funding all our hangouts, including her transport fare, even on my birthdays and anniversaries where I only get calls and texts in return. I once mentioned to her that she’s never given me anything and that the thoughtfulness would mean a lot, but she got defensive. While paying occasionally isn’t an issue, she has never spent her own money to visit me, and when it comes to finances, that’s where she draws the line. I can’t help but wonder if this should concern me and how I can truly know if she loves me for who I am, not just what I do for her.
