My daddy drove me to the hospital this morning. It wasn’t an emergency. I’m strong enough to drive myself anywhere, but he told me to turn off my car engine and come enter his car. I didn’t really see it as a big thing, so I accepted the offer. We got to the state Specialist Hospital, and Daddy told me to wait in the car until I received his call. About 10 minutes later a young nurse came to the car and told me, “Hello, Chief said you should come with me.”I followed her across the crowd at the OPD and finally got to an office where Daddy was. He told me, “I came to pave the way so you don’t waste time here.” At that moment I felt like giving him a hug because that was so thoughtful of the old man. He went all out to make sure I got swift and efficient medical attention, and everything went so smoothly. While waiting for the results, Daddy went out and came back later with food (jollof rice and chicken). He got two portions, so I asked why two, and he replied, “one portion was too small, so I figured out you’ll need more, so I got another one.” I am happy and super excited that old age didn’t stop my father from doing daddy duties. I’m also a father in my early 30s, and I’m still pampered by my 70-year-old father, a proud grandpa. A deep reflection of how parenting is such an endless responsibility. I love you, Daddy.
