My sister, a nurse, was in the delivery room when a pregnant woman punched her during labor. After giving birth, the woman didn’t apologize. When my sister told the doctor in the hallway, the woman’s brother overheard and slapped her. Angry, my sister grabbed a crutch and hit him back. The doctor fired her immediately. She came home crying and told us everything. Our older sister who is a lawyer, got a court order for the surveillance videos. We’re suing the hospital and the patient’s family for 500 million naira. We thought about sending the videos to blogs, but our younger sister said it could ruin her nursing career, so we didn’t. They offered a 15 million naira settlement; we demanded 50 million. If they don’t agree before next week’s court date, they’ll pay more.

Update on Legal Battle

We’ve settled out of court for ₦20 million, plus ₦500,000 in legal fees. The hospital owners insisted on keeping their name out of the news, and we signed an agreement to that effect. Both parties also signed an affidavit ensuring no harm comes to our sister or any member of our family. I pushed for ₦30 million, but my dad felt it was unnecessary, saying we’re not desperate and neither are we hungry. The family came with two catholic priests to the negotiation 🤣 they got to my mom emotionally. This woman started begging us to lower it that’s how we arrived at that amount. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.
