Today gave me a glimpse of what life might look like if I choose to be child-free. My aunt never married and without children came to the hospital where I work because she wasn’t feeling well. She had some medical expenses to cover, and I truly wished I could help, but I’m financially stretched with school and supporting my parents. So she had to manage everything on her own. It really got me thinking if I choose not to have kids, is this what my future could look like. I’m not particularly eager about having children, but this experience has opened my eyes. At least now, I know I need to prepare myself differently for the future.
