I don’t like my name, it puts a burden on me and feels like a responsibility and when people call it in short, I feel anxious and scared. I have an English name, even though it’s too common, I feel joyful and agile when called that name. It’s the name on my hospital birth certificate too, but people call me my tribal name without calling it in full. Adding the God part to it feels revitalising too, because I added it myself at age 15. Now I’m 30.
