I’m from Warri, Delta State. When I hear wafferians speak with the typical accent online, it irritates me & I wonder, ‘Is this how I sound too 👀’ Our pidgin feels so unrefined, as if we lack formal education. From now on, I’ve decided to focus on speaking proper English, even if my friends tease me for not being fluent. I’ll stay committed to it because I want to be seen as someone who is educated.
