A few years ago, I discovered most people who were friendly towards me stopped talking to me. I came to find out that they all thought I was “loose” because my housemate said so. I was surprised because I wasn’t interested in dating anyone at the time- something I repeatedly told my housemate before he tried (and thankfully failed) to force his way into my room when our other housemate travelled. It makes me sad when I remember how easily people believed but I’m glad I’m no longer in that social circle.
